If you were travelling from Manchester to Blackpool, what would be your chosen mode of transport? Would you drive, get a train, or cycle? Well, a few of our brave (and somewhat crazy) staff and directors have agreed to cycle from our office in Cheadle, all the way to Blackpool on 7th July 2018. They will be raking up 60 miles on their journey, all in aid of raising money for Ben’s blade!
There are four people taking part in the bike ride; Chris Burrows (Chairman), Lisa Ridgway (Chief Finance Officer), Richard Clarke (Director) and Hannah Morley (partner of a Director). All of them are taking part to help Ben Rawson (previous IT Student) meet his goal of raising £50,000 for his first blade!
In 2017, 21 year old Ben Rawson was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma in his right knee. The treatment prescribed for Ben’s recovery included the amputation of his right leg, above the knee, alongside aggressive chemotherapy. Ben has spent the last year trying to raise £50,000 to pay for the cost of his first blade, which will help him get him on the road to normality and also help him get back into sport. Ben has currently raised over £36,000, so he still has some way to go.
Since Ben’s diagnosis, the No1 CopperPot team have been fundraising. We have participated in dress-down days, a sponsored head shave, turned the staff room into the “CopperPot café” for a day, and much more. This is yet another attempt to help Ben get closer to his target!

We like to share our office antics with our members, but of course, if you wish to sponsor this bike ride, we would be very grateful.
